Today, Lowcountry native, community leader, and combat veteran Clay Middleton will file for South Carolina House District 116, which includes Wadmalaw Island and parts of Johns Island, Hollywood, Ravenel, Edisto Island, Edisto Beach, as well as portions of West Ashley.
Middleton, who will run as a Democrat, said he is running to bring a "practical, solution-oriented approach to the State House and will focus on unifying the district and addressing quality of life issues that affect residents across the Lowcountry"
“People are frustrated,” said Middleton. “Prices are higher. You have to drive a long time to go a short distance. We’re all making tough choices, especially working families and our seniors. My family and I are experiencing it too, and I hear about it every time I talk with anyone in the district. It is clear that House District 116 needs a representative who cares less about ideology and more about improving the everyday lives of the people who live and work here.”
Middleton said his campaign will focus on "strengthening the foundations that allow communities across the district to thrive."
“I’m committed to shaping the future of District 116 together,” Middleton said. “Your voice matters, and our community deserves a representative who will serve every corner of the district. Our present and our future demand nothing less.”
Middleton and his wife, Nicole, live in Carolina Bay in West Ashley with their two sons.
