Charleston County Elections is reminding voters to verify their polling location ahead of the U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary. Due to the shortened election timeline and the election falling on the first day of school for Charleston County students, many traditional polling locations are unavailable.
Election officials quickly consolidated some precincts into nearby polling places and secured alternative facilities where necessary. A list of polling location changes has been communicated to voters and is available online.
Voters can also verify their polling location using the Find My Polling Place tool at SCVotes.gov.
Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 11. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Early Voting
Charleston County Elections headquarters, located at 4340 Corporate Road in North Charleston, will serve as the only early voting center for this election.
Early voting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Absentee Voting
The deadline to request an absentee ballot was Friday, July 31. Absentee ballots must be received by Charleston County Elections headquarters no later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11. They cannot be returned to Election Day polling places.
Voters may contact Charleston County Elections to request an absentee ballot application in the event of a runoff. The deadline to return an absentee ballot application for a runoff would be 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.
Runoff Information
If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, a runoff election will be held. Information about a potential runoff will be shared by the State Election Commission following its certification hearing.
