GREENVILLE, SC — Brandon Brown, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in South Carolina, and Jesse Jackson Jr., Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 2nd District, will host a joint fundraiser on Saturday, February 7, in Greenville, South Carolina, bringing together two leaders committed to protecting democracy and advancing the interests of working people.
The event comes at a pivotal moment for the country, as national attention remains focused on threats to democratic institutions and the urgent need for accountable, people-centered leadership at every level of government.
“This moment calls for leaders who are willing to stand up for democracy and stand with working people,” said Brown. “Jesse Jackson Jr. and I may be running in different states, but we share the same values and the same commitment to building power from the ground up.”
Jackson’s participation carries special significance in Greenville, where the Jackson family has deep roots. Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.’s legacy of civil rights leadership, multiracial coalition-building, and democratic inclusion continues to shape national politics, particularly in the South.
“Coming back to Greenville is deeply personal,” said Jackson. “The Jackson family’s roots here remind us that the South has always been central to the fight for justice and democracy. This event is about honoring that legacy while organizing for the future.”
The fundraiser reflects a growing effort among progressive leaders to build coalitions across state lines in response to coordinated attacks on voting rights, labor protections, and democratic norms.
Event details, including location and RSVP information, will be released shortly.
