Woodfield Development and Kids On Point today hosted the official unveiling of a new and meaningful connection, the brand-new staircase linking Morrison Yard and the greater Upper Peninsula to the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge pedestrian and bike path.
“We have achieved an important milestone in the evolution of Morrison Yard, including a new pedestrian entrance to the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, wider sidewalks, and approved plans for a new crosswalk and traffic light at the Morrison Drive and Johnson Street intersection. These improvements will greatly enhance accessibility and walkability for both pedestrians and cyclists,” said Mike Schwarz, partner at Woodfield Development. “We encourage the community to celebrate these vital infrastructure updates with us as we continue to strengthen the urban fabric of Charleston’s Upper Peninsula.”
The unveiling event - which was attended by District Four Councilmember Robert Mitchell, Woodfield’s development partners, and Morrison Yard residents - marks the official opening of the new staircase that provides direct pedestrian access from Morrison Yard to Charleston’s iconic Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. The new bridge access is designed to foster more connectivity between downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and the surrounding area.
This event was hosted in partnership with Kids On Point, a local nonprofit committed to providing transformative academic and enrichment programming for families in and around the Morrison Yard community.
Woodfield Development first announced its partnership with Kids on Point at the Morrison Yard grand opening event hosted in February 2023. The leading multifamily developer has since raised $200,000 to support their mission to create a brighter future for Charleston’s youth, helping to remove barriers and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Developed by Woodfield Development, Morrison Yard Residences is a new best-in-class mixed-use development located in Charleston’s booming Upper Peninsula.
