Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF), a Charleston-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans and their families through surf therapy, yoga, wellness programs and mental health support, has been honored with the Humanitat Award by the French Society of Charleston.
The Humanitat Award, established in 1981, is presented annually to individuals or organizations whose humanitarian efforts have made a significant impact in the Charleston community. This year’s award recognizes Warrior Surf Foundation for its commitment to improving the lives of veterans and their families through compassion, service and innovative wellness initiatives.
Founded in 1951, the French Society of Charleston is a charitable and benevolent organization that honors Charleston’s French heritage while supporting community programs that embody service, generosity and civic leadership.
Warrior Surf Foundation was selected for its dedication to helping veterans overcome the challenges of transition and trauma through the healing power of the ocean. Since its founding in 2015, WSF has served nearly 1,000 veterans and family members through free surf therapy, yoga, wellness coaching and community engagement programs designed to foster resilience and connection.
As the organization celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, the Humanitat Award serves as a meaningful acknowledgment of a decade of community impact, resilience and hope.
