Trident Literacy Association has received a $5,000 grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina to further its efforts to empower adults in the Lowcountry through literacy, education, and workforce development. The Foundation awards grants to nonprofits that strive to reduce poverty throughout South Carolina, and Trident Literacy Association is one of 119 organizations funded this fall.
“This generous support from the Sisters of Charity Foundation helps us continue changing lives through education,” said Jen Gibson, Executive Director of Trident Literacy Association. “Every dollar helps an adult learner gain the skills they need to improve their English and achieve greater self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.”
In this cycle of funding, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded grants totaling $1,108,000 to nonprofit organizations across the state. The $5,000 grant to Trident Literacy Association will help the organization provide more adults access to English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes, improving their opportunities for employment and economic stability.
