This GivingTuesday, Trident Literacy Association will inspire generosity by showcasing their students’ achievements and highlighting new and exciting programs beginning in January 2024 at the organization.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of the people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday kicks off the generosity season this year, inspiring people to give back on November 28, 2023, and throughout the year.
Trident Literacy Association joined GivingTuesday in order to raise awareness and funds to better support the Lowcountry through adult education. Using a holistic case study approach, Trident Literacy focuses on providing students with the skills they need to succeed in life. All proceeds from GivingTuesday go to breaking down the barriers that often hinder students from pursuing a brighter future in both academic and workforce settings.
“Giving Tuesday has become this special time of year when we can celebrate the achievements of our students, volunteers, and supporters. So much time is spent doing the work to help over 500 students a year, and it’s a welcome time to reflect on what all the work and monetary gifts have done to change our student's lives and the lives of their families,” said Jen Gibson, executive director of Trident Literacy Association.
Launched in 2012, GivingTuesday began as a simple idea: creating a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eleven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to not only give but collaborate and celebrate generosity.
People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. From helping a neighbor to showing up for someone we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets billions of impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them all while encouraging others to get involved in their communities.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
