Yesterday marked the first time surviving families and church members of the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting gathered in the 10 years since the tragedy. Over a shared lunch at the Avery Research Center, they reflected on their loved ones and the power of unity in the face of hate.
Co-hosted by Transformation Table and the church, this gathering was inspired by Dr. Bernice A. King's words during the first Mother Emanuel commemoration: “Go to each other’s homes. Have dinner!” That call sparked a movement that Transformation Table continues to carry forward, breaking down barriers and building empathy, one meal at a time.
