Brandon Guffey, a South Carolina state representative, entrepreneur and nationally recognized advocate for child online safety, will release his debut book, Tomorrow Needs You: A Father’s Journey Turning Pain into Purpose, on Oct. 27, 2026.
His advocacy for child online safety began not in politics, but in tragedy — after his son Gavin died as a victim of online sextortion.
Refusing to let his son’s story end in silence, Guffey helped lead the effort to pass Gavin’s Law, strengthening penalties for online exploitation and raising awareness about sextortion and digital threats facing young people.
Tomorrow Needs You chronicles Gavin’s life, the devastating sextortion attack and its aftermath. Guffey shares his struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder while detailing his journey to pass Gavin’s Law, establish a nonprofit, sue Meta and advocate before Congress against criminal networks exploiting loopholes in technology.
Guffey has been named Legislator of the Year by the South Carolina Republican Party, Advocate of the Year by the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force and 2025 Cyber Investigator of the Year by the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.
He is also the founder of Less Than 3, a nonprofit dedicated to education, prevention and support for families navigating online harms.
