Personal finance website WalletHub today released a report on States With the Most Underprivileged Children in 2025 and South Carolina was ranked as having the 15th most in the country - the same ranking as last year. This comes just days after WalletHub ranked South Carolina as being the sixth worst state in the country to have a baby.
To highlight where children face the greatest hardships, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key indicators of child neediness. The analysis examines factors ranging from the share of children living in households below the poverty line to child food insecurity and the share of children who have experienced maltreatment.

- 16th – % of Maltreated Children
- 20th – % of Uninsured Children
- 6th – Infant Mortality Rate
