SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site design firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, proudly announces the launch of Green Square, a company-wide initiative that formalizes SW+’s philanthropic mission and underscores its commitment to the communities it serves. Rooted in education, wellness, and vibrancy, Green Square will guide SW+’s charitable giving, volunteerism, sponsorships, and pro bono services to drive meaningful change across its six office locations and beyond.
“Community engagement has always been at the heart of who SW+ is,” said Russ Seamon, president of SW+. “Green Square solidifies what we’ve been doing for over 40 years—giving back through service, design, and philanthropy. This initiative is a natural extension of our values and commitment to building stronger, more vibrant communities.”
Green Square takes its name from the green square in the SW+ logo, symbolizing its commitment to communities through charitable giving, volunteerism, and meaningful sponsorships.
The program is driven by three key pillars:
Education: Empower the next generation by increasing access to in-school, after-school, summer, and STEM programs and developing urban high school and college initiatives.
Wellness: Promote heart health, brain tumor research, access to healthy food, and high-quality healthcare for employees and communities.
Vibrancy: Enhance quality of life through environment, urban health, public land restoration, and affordable housing projects.
Each SW+ office adopted initiatives that reflect the unique needs of its community and employee’s passions, including:
Participating in the Lowcountry Heart Walk with an ambitious $25,000 fundraising goal in 2025.
Participating in Women Build Week events with Habitat for Humanity for the past 10 years.
Supporting homeless shelters by making lunches several times a year and delivering them to Roof Above.
Participation in Keep Charlotte Beautiful's Adopt-A-Street Program to maintain litter-free streets.
Offering pro bono design services to Mill Village Ministries' new service hub.
Packing boxes of fresh local produce with Feed & Seed Co to provide affordable, healthy food to community members
Looking ahead, SW+ plans to expand Green Square’s reach by introducing additional ways for employees to give back to communities.
“We want every employee to pursue working with a nonprofit they are passionate about,” said Denise Boozer, marketing coordinator at SW+ and leader of the Green Square initiative. “We hope our culture exudes giving back and that we offer ample opportunities to do so.”
