Sea Island Habitat for Humanity invites members of the community to join themfor a special 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance on Wednesday, September 11, on Johns Island. This volunteer opportunity is a chance to honor the memory of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, while giving back to your local community in a meaningful way.
The event will focus on building a home for a future homeowner, directly contributing to Sea Island Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing to families in need in the Lowcountry. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or new to volunteering, your time and effort will make a lasting impact on a deserving family’s life.
No prior construction experience is necessary—just a willingness to help and a heart for service. This is an excellent opportunity to come together with others in the community to reflect, remember, and make a tangible difference.
“On this day of national reflection, we’re calling on volunteers to help us honor the spirit of service and unity that emerged from the tragedy of 9/11,” said Emily Speck, Director of Development of Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. “By coming together to build a home, we’re not only remembering those we lost but also strengthening our community for the future.”
