Rock and Roll Rescue, a Charleston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting music education and accessibility, donated five new instruments to students at Allegro Charter School of Music on May 13, 2026.
The instruments were presented to students who previously did not have access to take-home instruments, creating new opportunities for continued learning, practice and musical growth beyond the classroom.
The event began with a welcome from the school’s music director, followed by a student performance of “Un Poco Loco,” setting the tone for an afternoon celebrating music, education and community support.
Musician and community leader Charlton Singleton presented the instruments to the students as family members, teachers, mentors and supporters gathered to cheer on the recipients.
Board members of Rock and Roll Rescue were also present, including founder Bunky Odom, who spoke with students about their musical goals and aspirations.
“This was an emotional event,” said Nancy Wagoner, a board member of Rock and Roll Rescue.
