Crews will begin full-depth road reclamation, a complex process that involves removing and recycling existing roadway materials to fully reconstruct a road, on portions of S Antler Drive and Jenny Lind Street in North Charleston tomorrow, Thursday, April 3.
Work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Weather permitting, this process is expected to be completed in two weeks.
Throughout this treatment process, the existing asphalt and soil will be recycled to a depth of up to 12 inches, which will create a stronger base for the new roadway. Once applied, the new material will cure for a period of three days before being paved.
In addition to improving road stability, structure, and performance, full-depth road reclamation is a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional paving operations. Learn more about the complex process here.
While work is underway, residents of S Antler Drive and Jenny Lind Street should avoid parking vehicles along the roadways. While temporary intermittent lane closures may be required throughout construction, crews will make every effort to minimize disruption to residents.
As always, please use caution when traveling throughout the work area and comply with all traffic control measures.
Funded by the Charleston County Transportation Committee, this project is being completed as part of the county’s ongoing Resurfacing Plan.
