The City of Charleston today announced upcoming road closures and traffic changes as part of Phase IV of the Low Battery Seawall Repair Project. These changes will affect Murray Blvd. from King Street to S. Battery Street.
Effective immediately, Murray Blvd. will be closed to drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists from King Street to S. Battery Street. Residents and commuters are advised to avoid this area. The closure will take away roughly 70 parking spots until construction is complete.
Construction is expected to continue until April of next year, but the City's goal is to reopen the intersection of King and Murray to traffic in advance of the completion of the remainder of the project.
These road closures and traffic changes are needed for the progress of the Low Battery Sea Wall Project, which aims to rehabilitate and improve the linear corridor of the Low Battery while enhancing the resilience of Charleston's coastal infrastructure against rising sea levels and extreme weather events.
