COLUMBIA, S.C. – At the request of the Jackson family and numerous members of the South Carolina General Assembly, the body of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. will lie in state at the South Carolina Statehouse on Monday, March 2, 2026, the Governor’s Office announced Tuesday. A copy of the family’s letter requesting the honor is available online.
Henry McMaster has directed that flags atop the Statehouse be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day in honor of Jackson’s legacy.
The South Carolina Department of Administration is coordinating arrangements with representatives of the Jackson family. Additional details will be released in the coming days.
