Postpartum Support Charleston (PSC), a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring no mother navigates the postpartum journey alone, is celebrating 25 years of supporting mothers and families across the Lowcountry.
Since its founding in 2000, PSC has connected thousands of moms to critical emotional, educational, and peer resources - a lifeline during one of life’s most transformative and often vulnerable seasons.
“It’s no secret that the postpartum journey is often filled with challenges. What’s not always clear is where to turn when you need extra support during this vulnerable time,” said Elaine DeaKyne, PSC Executive Director. “Over the past 25 years, Postpartum Support Charleston has worked to fill the gap and provide thousands of Charleston area mothers with the resources they need during what can often be a challenging period. We are thrilled to announce over 9,400 mothers served and invite members of the community to join us to celebrate, support maternal health, and remind Charleston moms they are not alone.”
This year alone, PSC has:
- Connected 66 moms to one-on-one peer support;
- Welcomed 381 moms to group support sessions;
- Delivered 2,696 Beyond Delivery care bags and access to meals to new mothers; and
- Mobilized 258 incredible volunteers to make this work possible
To mark this milestone, PSC will host a 25th Anniversary Celebration Gather & Give Community Oyster Roast on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Alhambra Hall in Mount Pleasant. The family-friendly event will feature live music, festive drinks, kid activities, photos with Santa, a silent auction, and one of Charleston’s most iconic waterfront views.
Proceeds will directly benefit PSC’s core programs, including its peer mentor program, Beyond Delivery initiative, and community education and outreach efforts, ensuring that more mothers can access vital postpartum mental health resources across the Charleston region.
