South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has appointed Charles "Charlie" Carmody (pictured) to the Patriots Point Development Authority (PPDA) Board.
Carmody is senior vice president of CBRE's Advisory and Transaction Services and serves as broker-in-charge for the company's Charleston, Columbia and Greenville offices. With more than 42 years of experience in commercial real estate and a longstanding record of civic leadership in the Lowcountry, he brings valuable expertise in strategic growth, real estate and organizational governance.
“Charles Carmody's extensive professional experience and longstanding commitment to the Lowcountry make him an outstanding addition to the Patriots Point Development Authority Board,” PPDA Board Chairman Wayne Adams said. “His experience in strategic planning and community leadership will be a valuable asset as we continue preserving our nation's history while ensuring Patriots Point remains a world-class destination for generations to come.”
Carmody, a Lowcountry native and University of South Carolina alumnus, serves on the board of directors for the Charleston Trident Chamber of Commerce. He was named Commercial Realtor of the Year by the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors (CTAR), where he previously served as president of both the association and its Commercial Investment Division. Carmody has consistently ranked among Charleston's top commercial real estate producers for more than 40 years and was again CBRE Charleston's top producer in 2025.
The PPDA Board consists of nine members appointed to four-year terms. The governor appoints three members, including the board chairman, at his discretion. Five additional members are appointed by the governor upon the recommendation of the speaker of the House, the Senate president, the Senate Finance Committee chairman, the House Ways and Means Committee chairman and the adjutant general. The mayor of the Town of Mount Pleasant serves as an ex officio member.
