The Board of Directors of Palmetto Scholars Academy (PSA) announced today that Christina Brown has been named the school's new principal and head of school, effective immediately.
Brown brings two decades of leadership experience in education to PSA. Most recently, she served as principal and school leader of Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant. She has extensive experience in the public charter school sector, where she has used the flexibility of charter schools to build high-performing programs. Brown is known for creating collaborative school cultures, developing educators and driving long-term strategic growth.
“I began my career as a teacher and coach at a high school in Pennsylvania, an experience that deeply shaped my leadership style today,” Brown said. “I firmly believe that strong school leadership means creating a student-centered environment while actively supporting, mentoring and empowering teachers. I look forward to bringing that same energy and commitment to the Palmetto Scholars Academy family.”
Brown succeeds Principal Ricky Reyes and Interim Principal Heather Taylor, who led the school during the search process.
The board conducted a community-driven search that included listening sessions, surveys and committee input from parents, teachers, staff and community members.
