Crystal Creek Capital (“CCC”), a Jackson Hole, WY based private equity real estate investment firm, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Planters Inn, a landmark luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of Charleston’s Historic District. CCC will also take over the day-to-day management of the 64-room boutique hotel, which was originally built in 1844 as a luxury goods emporium and remains a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike.
Planters Inn is Charleston’s only Relais & Châteaux property, and is known for its intimate charm, world-class hospitality, elegant accommodations, and enchanting courtyard oasis. CCC is planning an extensive renovation with the intention of connecting the storied history of Charleston to the hotel and ultimately the guest experience. Upon its completion, Planters Inn will further reinforce its position as the city’s premier luxury boutique property.
“We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Charleston community and intend to be great stewards of this beloved hotel by honoring its incredible legacy,” said Jamie Yarrow, President of Crystal Creek Hospitality. “Charleston is a vibrant city, rich in culture, historic architecture, with an exciting arts and dynamic culinary scene, and our goal is to infuse Planter’s Inn with the city’s undeniable allure, to ensure it remains a beacon of Southern hospitality for generations to come.”
The crown jewel of Charleston’s Historic District, Planters Inn has long been a centerpiece of the local community. Boasting a traditional Southern design featuring high ceilings, hickory furnishings, Audubon prints, and four poster beds, Planter’s Inn exudes the same elegance and sophistication that can be found in some of Charleston’s famed historic mansions. The property is an artfully preserved architectural treasure that features an inviting lobby and parlor, spacious guest rooms and suites, and 5,500 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event space, including a beautiful private courtyard designed by Sheila Wetimer, the acclaimed landscape architect credited with creating Charleston’s most elegant gardens.
At the heart of the hotel, set amongst Palmetto trees and a garden of flickering lights, sits the award-winning Peninsula Grill, an enchanting Four-Diamond and Four-Star restaurant. With its resplendent sense of arrival, iconic dining room whose walls are clad in shimmering velvet oyster tones, woven seagrass floors, and custom chandeliers, Peninsula Grill has received both local and national acclaim, solidifying itself as among the South’s most beloved restaurants. Lauded for its elevated menu featuring Lowcountry twists that combine modern Southern cooking techniques with fresh seafood, prime cut steaks and local produce, no visit is complete without the famous 12-layer Ultimate Coconut Cake, a legendary dessert that has appeared on the dessert menu for more than 20 years. Dubbed “a little slice of heaven,” the deliciously decadent yet light coconut cake takes more than an entire day to create and remains one of the South’s most celebrated desserts.
