A temporary injury shouldn’t stop someone from working, attending school, or caring for their family. Yet for many across the Charleston area, access to something as simple as crutches can become an unexpected challenge—especially for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
I Serve With Joy is launching the "Steps Toward Mobility Impact Initiative," beginning with The Joy Mobility Project, a community program focused on making brand-new, medical-grade crutches available to residents in need.
The initiative will roll out over its first 8–9 week phase, providing support to community members—including seniors, veterans, youth in sports, and working individuals recovering from injury—so they can remain mobile during recovery.
“Sometimes the smallest resource can make the biggest difference,” said Joy Campbell, Founder of I Serve With Joy. “A pair of crutches can mean the difference between someone staying home struggling to move and being able to return to work, school, and everyday life.”
As the initiative begins, I Serve With Joy is inviting community partners, sponsors, and volunteers throughout the Charleston area to support this effort and help expand access to mobility support for residents in need.
Community members will have access to crutches through pop-up distribution events, community partnerships, and direct outreach efforts throughout the Lowcountry.
Those in need of support can text REACH to 347-774-0155 to request crutches or learn more.
Organizations and businesses interested in partnering can text PARTNER to 347-774-0155 to get involved.
