Dive into compassion with Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary's Laps For Love swimming fundraiser, sponsored by West Ashley Veterinary Clinic, Crews Subaru, and Sly Penguin, and matching sponsors Aqua Blue Pools, Three Oak Contractors, and Golden Properties of Charleston. This Saturday, August 17, starting at 6:30 am, swimmers will participate in either a two-hour 200-lap swim or a one-hour, 100-lap swim to raise funds to cover everything from food and shelter to medical procedures for the animals at Hallie Hill.
To date, the participating swimmers have raised over 90% of their collective $35,000 fundraising goal, and they need the community's help to fill in the rest. People are encouraged to show their support by donating a set amount directly to a swimmer or pledging to donate "per lap."
All funds raised will go to helping animals like Bailey, Sven & Dusty, Bella, Catniss, Cheeto, and Mosey. Bailey is a kitten who was rescued from a hoarding situation and has developed severe skin issues. We are working with a veterinary dermatologist to diagnose the cause of these issues, and in the meantime, she has become a great office manager at Hallie Hill. Sven & Dusty are a bonded pair whose owner was forced to surrender them after falling on hard times. He was terrified to surrender his companions to a shelter, not even knowing whether or not they would be euthanized. Hallie Hill provided him with another option, giving the bonded pair of dogs a safe place to land before hopefully finding a new family. Bella, Catniss, Cheeto, and Mosey are dogs whose skin issues impact their quality of life. For as long as they are at Hallie Hill, they will receive the medical attention necessary to live a healthy, comfortable life. Giving to our Laps for Love campaign helps ensure that we can continue providing a safe haven for animals who have no other option.
Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary is a 501c3 animal sanctuary whose mission is to rescue and care for abandoned, abused, or neglected animals without a home or shelter. They prepare animals for adoption and provide a loving Forever Home with the proper shelter, nutrition, and medical care for those animals whose chances of adoption are reduced due to age, medical, or behavioral issues. An integral factor in Charleston becoming a no-kill community, Hallie Hill provides respite and rehabilitation for dogs and cats, preparing them for adoption and providing a loving forever home to those who cannot be adopted.
