Going Places, a nonprofit dedicated to providing children in underserved communities with the joy of a new bike, proudly announces a $50,000 partnership with MassMutual South Carolina for 2026.
This transformative investment will directly advance Going Places’ mission to provide brand-new, custom bikes to every child at Title 1 elementary schools through unforgettable surprise Bike Reveal events later this year. More than a sponsorship, this is a true partnership, one that integrates MassMutual South Carolina into the heart of Going Places’ work year-round. This $50,000 contribution also marks the largest single donation in the organization’s history.
“At Going Places, we believe joy is not a luxury, it’s essential,” said Katie Blomquist, Founder and Executive Director of Going Places. “This partnership with MassMutual South Carolina allows us to deliver that joy at scale, reaching thousands of children at once and creating a moment they will never forget.”
Going Places operates on a unique, equity-driven model, partnering with entire elementary schools to ensure that no child is singled out. Every student receives a new bike, helmet, lock, and pump, eliminating barriers and fostering a shared experience of excitement, belonging, and confidence.
For many children living in poverty, the hours after school can be the most stressful and unpredictable. A bike offers more than just transportation; it provides freedom, independence, and an emotional outlet.
“MassMutual South Carolina has been an incredible partner to Going Places, and their continued support at this higher level reflects a deep commitment to the well-being of children in our community,” Blomquist said. “Together, we are not just giving bikes, we are giving kids a chance to experience the pure joy of childhood.”
This partnership builds on MassMutual South Carolina’s continued commitment to Going Places, including previous support at their 2025 gala, Bike Build, and Bike Reveal, which have all contributed to fully funding a school-wide Bike Reveal and provided employees with meaningful, hands-on volunteer experiences through the organization’s large-scale Bike Build events.
Through initiatives like this, Going Places continues to expand its reach and impact, with a bold goal of providing 2,500 bikes to children in 2026.
