The fourth annual Playhouse Project, presented by Lowe's Home Improvement in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County, Charleston Habitat for Humanity, Dorchester Habitat for Humanity and East Cooper Habitat for Humanity, was a heartwarming success. Held in one transformative day, the event brought together over 400 volunteers who collaborated to build custom playhouses for 36 deserving children across the Lowcountry.
The Playhouse Project raised an incredible $100,000 to support safe and affordable housing initiatives in the community.
"The 2024 Playhouse Project was a complete success thanks to Lowe's Home Improvement and all of our sponsors, volunteers, and families," said George Druyos, President & CEO at Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County. "This year, there was even more excitement and creativity in the playhouse designs, and it showed. We could not be more grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event unforgettable for the children and their families. The Playhouse Project is an event that leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved."
This year’s event continued to highlight the community spirit that makes the Playhouse Project special. "As a Dorchester Habitat for Humanity board member and a proud Lowe's employee, the Playhouse Project holds a special place in my heart," shared Deb Cooley, Scheduling and Staffing Administrator of Lowe's Home Improvement #2948 in Summerville. "Seeing the excitement on the children's faces during the playhouse reveal is truly magical. This project is about more than just building playhouses; it's about creating joy, fostering community spirit, and making a positive impact in the lives of families.”
