East Cooper Montessori Charter School is proud to announce that it will serve as host site for the internationally acclaimed World Peace Game November 10–14, 2025, welcoming educators from across the country and giving 4th grade students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn alongside visionary educators.
Developed by John Hunter, global educator, author, and TED speaker, the World Peace Game is a hands-on political simulation that challenges students to navigate complex global crises and work toward peaceful, collaborative solutions. Students from East Cooper Montessori will play the game daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while visiting educators take part in a full facilitator certification program on campus.
“We are honored to host this transformative learning experience,” said Jody Swanigan, principal of East Cooper Montessori Charter School. “Montessori education and the World Peace Game are deeply aligned in their commitment to developing global citizens, critical thinkers, and compassionate leaders. This opportunity will empower our students to tackle real-world problems with empathy, courage, and creativity.”
Students Become Global Leaders
Students in Ms. Angelina and Ms. Jess’s 4th-grade class will step into leadership roles as they work to resolve interconnected environmental, economic, and humanitarian challenges. Key student roles include:
- Prime Minister: Leads national decision-making and represents citizens
- Secretary of State: Handles diplomacy and international negotiations
- Minister of Defense: Coordinates national defense and military strategy
- Chief Financial Officer: Manages national budget and financial decisions
- Chief of Commerce: Oversees trade, industry, and economic development
- Chief of Natural Resources: Protects and manages environmental and energy resources
The objective: achieve global prosperity while using the least amount of military intervention possible.
Throughout the experience, students practice real-world skills such as negotiation, leadership, financial literacy, environmental planning, communication, and ethical decision-making.
