As we mark the anniversary of September 11th, we invite the community to come together in solemn reflection and to pay tribute to the victims, survivors, and heroes who showed unparalleled courage and resilience on that tragic day. Our Dorchester County September 11th Ceremony is not just a moment to remember, but an opportunity to stand united in support of one another, reinforcing the values of strength, unity, and compassion that bind us as a society.
The ceremony will feature speeches, a moment of silence, and a wreath-laying to honor those who lost their lives. The program includes the Presentation of Colors by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, the National Anthem performed by Shambra Pellum, and a benediction by Rickie Jenkins, Chaplain for the South Carolina Firefighters' Association. Carter Jones, Heritage Coordinator for the South Carolina Firefighters’ Association, will provide remarks on the history and significance of the occasion. Additionally, Paul Cox from the Summerville Orchestra and Charleston Concert Band will perform Taps, and Chief Deputy Sam Richardson will recognize the families affected by this day.
