Doors to Dream, a Charleston-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved youth, has launched the Key Holders Campaign, a community-driven initiative inviting local businesses and individuals to help sponsor middle school students at Morningside Middle School.
Through the campaign, companies and individuals are asked to raise $1,000 to sponsor two students, directly funding leadership training, career exploration experiences, and mentorship opportunities — all at no cost to the school or families.
“Too many of our students face barriers that make it difficult to see a future beyond their circumstances,” said Sam Clements, Executive Director of Doors to Dream. “The Key Holders Campaign gives Charleston’s business community a chance to change that — to literally help unlock doors to opportunity and success.”
Doors to Dream works as an in-school provider at Morningside Middle School, where just 10% of students perform on grade level in math and behavioral challenges are common. The organization provides over 50 hours of leadership development, ten career exploration opportunities, and ongoing mentorship to more than 65 students each year.
“This campaign isn’t just about raising money,” Clements added. “It’s about raising hope — showing our kids that Charleston’s leaders believe in them and are willing to invest in their future.”
Doors to Dream will host two virtual information sessions for interested supporters on Mondays and Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. Participants will learn more about the program and how to become a Key Holder.
