Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center is pleased to welcome Erica Walsh as its new Director of Philanthropy & Communications. Walsh joined the organization on August 3 following more than five years of nonprofit leadership experience with the American Heart Association, where she focused on strategic fundraising, partnership development, and community engagement.
In her new role, Walsh will lead Dee Norton’s philanthropy and communications efforts, with a focus on strengthening relationships with donors and community partners, expanding awareness of Dee Norton’s impact, and creating new opportunities for individuals and organizations to support its vision that all children grow up safe, nurtured, and free from abuse.
During her time with the Greater Pittsburgh American Heart Association, Walsh cultivated relationships with donors, corporate and community partners, and volunteers while leading initiatives that advance the organization’s mission and drive revenue. She built and stewarded donor portfolios, led volunteer engagement and fundraising efforts, developed community partnerships, and worked across teams to turn mission-driven ideas into meaningful impact.
“I see tremendous opportunity to build greater awareness of Dee Norton’s impact and connect more people to this important mission,” said Walsh. “I’m excited to build meaningful partnerships with local businesses and community leaders, create new opportunities for people to give and volunteer, and help more people understand the difference Dee Norton is making for children and families in Charleston. Becoming a parent has given me an even greater appreciation for the importance of ensuring every child and family has the support and resources they need to thrive, making this mission especially meaningful to me.”
As she begins her new role, Walsh is particularly focused on connecting storytelling, philanthropy and community engagement to help more people understand Dee Norton’s impact and find meaningful ways to become involved.

Walsh recently relocated to Charleston and is excited to become part of the community she now serves. In her role at Dee Norton, she will work closely with staff, donors, volunteers and community partners to build awareness of the Center’s impact and create new opportunities to engage in its mission.
