Much of the world has been watching immigration enforcement activity in Minneapolis. While relatively few South Carolinians have witnessed it firsthand, Will McCorkle recently returned from Minnesota and discussed his experiences with host Frank Knapp on the Small Business “Backbone” Podcast.
The show is the official podcast of the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for small businesses.
McCorkle is an associate professor at the College of Charleston, where his research focuses on the intersection of nationalism, immigration and education, with particular attention to marginalized migrant communities. He also serves as program director for the university’s Master of Teaching, Learning and Advocacy program.
During the conversation, McCorkle discussed his personal experiences and interactions with others at protests and vigils, as well as his conversations with small business owners about the impact immigration enforcement activities have had on their businesses.
