The City's Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) is holding two Visioning Sessions this month as part of an effort to draft a new Public Art Initiative.
The sessions are open forums for Charlestonians to share input on how they'd like to see public art reflected in their communities. Artists and community members are invited to help shape the initiative.
Topics to be discussed include:
- The process for the City to accept public art
- The role artists play in guiding public art
- The inclusion of public art in development
- Development of an artist incubator program for emerging artists
- Development of a citywide murals program
The two sessions are:
- 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Cannon Street Arts Center, 134 Cannon St.
- 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Carr-Richardson Park Recreation Center, 1071 Bender St., West Ashley
