Charleston AI reports that a recent video introducing its physical AI lab has surpassed 1 million views across Instagram and Facebook, drawing widespread attention to a distinctly local idea: Technology becomes useful when people can sit down with someone they trust.
The video takes viewers inside the company’s Jessen Lane lab, where individuals and small-business owners meet face-to-face with engineers. The response has focused attention on the company’s practical approach and its client-friendly policy: The work happens first, and the client pays afterward.
“The response told us something important: People are curious about AI, but they do not want to be left alone with it,” co-founder Jim Reilly said. “Silicon Valley has built extraordinary tools. The missing piece for many people is the last mile — someone who will sit beside them, understand their business, make the technology work and stand behind the result. That is the empathy gap we are here to close.”
At Charleston AI, clients can bring in an AI tool they already use, a broken implementation or simply a job they want technology to perform. Engineers work alongside them to diagnose problems, build custom skills, connectors and plugins, and deliver working AI systems.
The company also offers hands-on classes, private training and on-site business services. Appointments are private, services are pay-as-you-go, and payment is due after the work is completed.
Charleston AI’s public “Intelligence Delivered” catalog listed 138 completed builds as of Aug. 28. Recent local examples include an AI service adviser for a West Ashley auto repair shop, a production planner for Ghost Grow 843, a microgreens grower at 5059 Dorchester Road in North Charleston, and a report-writing system for a tri-county home inspection business.
