Personal finance website WalletHub on Monday released a report on “2024's Best & Worst Places to Start a Career,” and Charleston ranked as being the 7th best.
To create the rankings, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 26 key indicators of career-friendliness. The data set ranges from the availability of entry-level jobs to monthly average starting salary to housing affordability.
Starting Your Career in Charleston (1=Best; 91=Avg.):
- Overall Rank: 7th
- 44th – Projected Population Growth (2046 vs. 2016)
- 63rd – Monthly Avg. Starting Salary (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
- 16th – Entry-Level Jobs per 100,000 Working-Age Population
- 1st – Unemployment Rate
- 14th – % of Adults Ages 25+ with at Least a Bachelor’s Degree
