In order to increase accessibility and expand citizen participation opportunities, Charleston County Zoning and Planning has introduced Engage Charleston County, a new public commenting platform that accepts comments online and via voicemail, email, and text message.
Once submitted, comments can be easily compiled and provided to the relevant board or commission for consideration.
In addition to submitting comments, this new platform provides community members seamless access to all available case information, including maps, documents, and other materials going before Charleston County Council, Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.
“The launch of Engage Charleston County represents significant progress in our ongoing goal of making our planning and zoning processes more transparent and accessible to the public. By providing additional public engagement options, we hope to break down barriers to participation and ensure that more citizens’ voices can be heard,” said Niki Grimball, Charleston County Zoning and Planning Project Officer III. “With real-time updates and all case information available in one place, community members can engage like never before.”
Citizen comments submitted in-person and by email and letter will continue to be accepted.
