Charleston County is seeking public input on the proposed 2026 Transportation Sales Tax (TST) program, inviting residents across the county to review the updated draft plan and share feedback through an online survey and upcoming community meetings.
The outreach effort follows County Council’s recent vote to advance a working draft of the potential TST program, which outlines proposed funding allocations for infrastructure, transit, and greenbelt investments countywide.
Residents can review the draft program and complete the online survey at CharlestonTransportation.
In addition to submitting input online, residents are encouraged to attend one of the following community meetings to learn more about the proposed program investments and share their feedback with county staff:
- Monday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. – Moultrie Middle School cafeteria (645 Coleman Boulevard, Mount Pleasant)
- Monday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. – Park Circle Community Building (4800 Park Circle, North Charleston)
- Monday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. – James Island Town Hall (1122 Dills Bluff Road, James Island)
Public input collected will be presented to County Council as they consider further revisions to the plan in April.
“This is one of the most important conversations our community will have about its future,” said Charleston County Council Chairman Joe Boykin. “The draft plan reflects thousands of community voices and a careful effort to balance needs across Charleston County, but it’s not a finished product. This phase of outreach gives residents the opportunity to help shape what comes next – to tell us where we’ve gotten it right, where we can do better, and to help build a program that addresses the needs and reflects the values of the communities it’s meant to serve.”
The current draft framework was shaped by months of public engagement, including more than 29,000 individual comments, over 600 project ideas submitted by residents and municipalities, and approximately $68 billion in identified transportation needs.
If approved, the proposed 2026 Transportation Sales Tax program is projected to generate approximately $4.25 billion over 25 years.
