Charleston County, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), is proposing to construct two miles of roadway west of I-526 to create a new direct connection to the Charleston International Airport. The project also includes a new interchange at I-526 and West Montague Avenue in conjunction with the widening of I-526, being completed as part of the SCDOT’s Lowcountry Corridor West project.
An environmental assessment (EA) was produced under Federal Highway Administration National Environmental Policy Act guidelines to determine how the Airport Connector Road project could affect the environment and surrounding community. Citizens can view the draft EA here and submit comments through Friday, August 30, 2024.
For additional project information, please contact Sheila Parker, Project Manager, at (843) 202-7624 or email the project team at info@airportconnectorroad.com.
