Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) proudly launched its newly reimagined Tech Team during a celebratory event held Monday, April 21, at the Bees Ferry West Ashley Library. The relaunch marks a major step forward in CCPL’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering residents with critical technology skills.
The revitalized Tech Team offers an expanded suite of services, including traditional technology classes, topical programs, informal help labs, scheduled one-on-one appointments, and assistance at library public computers. The team’s redesigned service model was informed by extensive community feedback and a public technology survey aimed at identifying the evolving needs of Charleston County residents.
“This relaunch represents an exciting evolution of CCPL’s dedication to digital literacy," said CCPL Executive Director Angela Craig. "As technology continues to change rapidly, our Tech Team is here to ensure every member of our community — no matter their background or experience — has the skills and confidence they need to thrive.”
The new model introduces standardized service guidelines across all branches, expanded outreach to underserved areas, and specialized training to ensure equitable and high-quality service delivery. Programming is now more adaptable to local needs, with flexible class formats and a renewed emphasis on accessibility. In addition, a completely overhauled visual brand identity, including a new logo and other collateral, was created for the Tech Team to provide a more cohesive, consistent, and streamlined experience for the public.
Andrew Dombrowski, CCPL Technology Coordinator, emphasized the importance of the updated services: “We’ve expanded our offerings by incorporating classes from national tech literacy providers and platforms like Google and LinkedIn Learning, while also empowering our librarians to create and share their own classes across the system. This flexibility allows us to keep pace with today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape. Whether you are brand new to using a computer or exploring advanced topics like coding and AI, we want people to know we’re here to help — without judgment — and in whatever format works best for them.”
To celebrate the relaunch, CCPL will offer a slate of special programs across its branches throughout the coming weeks. Highlights include:
