Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) and Charleston Literary Festival are partnering this fall to expand access to books, authors and literary experiences throughout Charleston County ahead of the 10th annual Charleston Literary Festival.
Through the partnership, CCPL will host a series of book discussions featuring selections from the 2026 Festival lineup at library branches across Charleston County. A limited number of free copies of each featured book will be available for participants, and attendees will have opportunities to win free tickets to Charleston Literary Festival events.
“Libraries have always been about connecting people with stories, ideas and one another, and this partnership is a natural extension of that work,” said Angela Craig, Executive Director of Charleston County Public Library. “By bringing Festival selections into our branches and putting books directly into the hands of our community, we can help more people discover these authors and take part in the conversations happening at this year’s Charleston Literary Festival. We’re excited to work together to make these literary experiences more accessible throughout the County.”
CCPL book discussions begin in October and continue through the opening day of the Festival. Featured books include Strangers by Belle Burden, Kin by Tayari Jones, Joyride by Susan Orlean, Angel Down by Daniel Kraus, Ply by Hernan Diaz, Lázár by Nelio Biedermann, The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, Heart the Lover by Lily King and Triage by Claudia Rankine.
In addition to the book discussions, readers can participate in Lit Fest Bingo at CCPL by completing activities such as reading fiction or nonfiction, discovering a new author, checking out a digital item through Libby, visiting a CCPL branch, and attending a library program. Completed bingo cards can be returned to any CCPL location by Oct. 23 for a chance to win free Charleston Literary Festival tickets.
Charleston Literary Festival shared its enthusiasm for the partnership in a statement: “Charleston Literary Festival is so proud to partner with the Charleston County Public Library this year. CCPL is representative of how literature is for everyone, something the Festival fiercely supports. We are honored that this partnership will increase accessibility for people across Charleston to read Festival books and attend Festival events this fall. Every person deserves the opportunity to read, and we are proud to contribute to this great endeavor.”
The 10th annual Charleston Literary Festival will take place Nov. 6-15, 2026, primarily at the historic Dock Street Theatre in downtown Charleston. This year’s Festival will welcome more than 80 authors to the Lowcountry and feature a wide-ranging program of fiction, nonfiction, memoir, family programming and multidisciplinary events.
