Latest Forecast
According to the latest information from the National Weather Service, dangerously low wind chills and up to 3 inches of accumulating snowfall are expected Saturday into Sunday. While it’s too soon to know the exact timing and extent of impacts, the period of greatest concern for snowfall in Charleston County is Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
Saturday’s precipitation is expected to begin as rain and transition into snow as the temperatures drop throughout the day.
Given the extreme cold temperatures being forecast, icy roadway conditions are possible this weekend and into Monday.
County Preparations
Charleston County Public Works crews will work through the weekend assisting SCDOT in treating area roadways.
SCDOT is expected to begin pre-treating roads and bridges with brine today and will transition into salting operations when precipitation begins.
County Public Works vehicles have been fitted with salt spreaders and will be deployed Saturday with a focus on primary routes and bridges. Additionally, emergency response resources will be pre-positioned throughout the county as a precautionary measure should travel become hazardous this weekend. - 1 p.m., Saturday, January 31
- 1 p.m., Sunday, February 1
Warming Center Information
The following privately operated area Warming Centers have announced openings. Each will welcome men, women, and children (no pets) and provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Then, transfer to Tri-County Link at T-Mobile (8751 Rivers Ave). Pick-ups from that stop at 4:10 p.m., 5:16 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
