The deadline for qualified non-profit and for-profit organizations to submit applications to participate in the Land Acquisition Pilot Program has been extended to October 11, 2024, at 12 pm. Charleston County, in partnership with Charleston Redevelopment Corporation, is piloting a land acquisition grant program to support the creation of affordable housing throughout the county.
Non-profit and for-profit organizations with experience developing affordable housing are invited to apply for land acquisition grants, which will support a variety of infill and multifamily rental and homeownership opportunities in Charleston County. Applications are now open and can be completed here.
Maximum awards will vary based on project specifications but are intended not to exceed $250,000 for infill projects and $500,000 for multifamily projects. In total, Charleston County Council has allocated $2,500,00 for land acquisition as part of the pilot program.
The deadline to apply is 12 p.m., September 13, 2024. All funded projects must execute a contractual agreement by November 15, 2024, and agree to a minimum 20-year affordability period.
