Charleston County’s Community Development and Revitalization Department is accepting applications for Urban Entitlement funds to facilitate housing and community development projects serving low-to-moderate income individuals throughout unincorporated Charleston County and its participating jurisdictions. The funding is allocated annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Funding applications must detail the specific goal the project will address, identify measurable outputs, and specify if the funding request is from Charleston County, the City of North Charleston, or both jurisdictions.
Applications are available here and will be accepted until 12 p.m., January 6, 2025.

Pre-Application Workshop
Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the Pre-Application Workshop set for Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Charleston County Council Chambers, located on the second floor of the Lonnie Hamilton III Public Services Building (4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston).
At the workshop, attendees will learn more about the application process and have an opportunity to discuss any questions with staff.
Additionally, potential applicants may submit written questions to Regulatory Manager Griffin Reeder at greeder@charlestoncounty.
Town Hall Meetings
Each year, Community Development and Revitalization staff hold public hearings at participating jurisdictions to increase awareness of the availability of Urban Entitlement funds, provide examples of previously funded Urban Entitlement programs, and hear citizen comments regarding program activities.
Public hearings are scheduled at the discretion of each municipality and coincide with the beginning of each program year’s funding cycle. Meeting information is provided below:
