Before transitioning to college counseling, Jessica worked in college admissions at Rice University, Sewanee: The University of the South, and Knox College, giving her a deep understanding of what colleges seek in applicants.
Head of School, Andy Gyves, expressed his delight at Jessica’s joining the community sharing, “In our national search for the person to lead CCS’s College Guidance program forward, Jessica quickly separated herself from a very talented field. Her experience and proven expertise are unparalleled, and the way she works from a place of personalized care with each kid, colleague, and family is truly remarkable.”
Jessica is equally excited to begin her new role at CCS. “I’m beyond honored to be joining such a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and work closely with our students and their families, helping them navigate the college journey with confidence. I’m truly excited to guide each student in discovering the path that’s perfect for them!”
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jessica brings a vibrant personality and enthusiasm to the CCS community. Originally from Wisconsin, she is currently a cheer coach at St. George’s and enjoys any opportunity to grab a microphone or step into the spotlight. She loves reading, listening to audiobooks, and dancing to music from all genres. Her favorite author is Paulo Coelho, and while she enjoys podcasts on financial literacy, leadership, and college admissions, she’s always open to new recommendations. A self-proclaimed people-watching enthusiast, she believes traveling provides the best way to learn about people and cultures, especially through food and conversation.
Jessica is passionate about helping students craft their college essays, calling it her “superpower”. She finds joy in guiding students to tell their stories in ways that are authentic and compelling.
Jessica will relocate to Charleston this summer and officially begin her role on July 1. Charleston Collegiate School is thrilled to welcome her to the community and looks forward to the invaluable impact she will have on students’ futures.
