On Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. the Charleston Area Justice Ministry (CAJM) will host a community forum at the St. Patrick Parish Center (127 St. Philip St., Charleston). During the event, the public can learn about the Charleston Police Department’s Racial Bias Audit Implementation Final Report, understand the status of racial disparities in policing practices, and develop questions that will be pitched to the Charleston Police Department (CPD) about the audit's implementation.
There will also be a presentation on ways to increase public safety and police efficiency while reducing racial disparities in traffic stops - based on nationwide best practices. Small group table discussions will take place, as CAJM invites members of the community to dive into CPD’s implementation of the racial bias audit recommendations.
This is the second major policing forum CAJM will host this year. On January 25, they held an event that offered a presentation with a holistic view of data, findings, and recommendations from the racial bias audit.
