The Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC), a longstanding nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the Lowcountry through philanthropy, volunteerism and community engagement, is embarking on an exciting new chapter. With renewed leadership and vision, CSC is relaunching to inspire a new generation of community-minded individuals while continuing its tradition of supporting local charitable initiatives.
The relaunch celebration will take place Thursday, July 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Peacock, 213 E. Bay St. in downtown Charleston.
Founded on the belief that meaningful change begins with community, the Charitable Society of Charleston has long served as a platform for individuals looking to make a positive impact in the Lowcountry. The relaunch marks a new chapter for the organization as it focuses on expanding membership, increasing community involvement and strengthening partnerships throughout the Charleston area.
The event will welcome former members, prospective members, community partners and anyone interested in becoming part of the organization's next chapter. Guests will enjoy an evening of networking, community connection, complimentary appetizers and the opportunity to learn more about CSC's mission, membership, volunteer opportunities and future initiatives. Drinks will be available for purchase.
"We are thrilled to reintroduce the Charitable Society of Charleston to our community," said Ben Thrash, founding president of the Charitable Society of Charleston. "Our goal is to create opportunities for people to connect, serve and make a lasting impact while building meaningful relationships with others who share a passion for giving back."
Representatives from CSC's five nonprofit partners — MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, My Sister's House, Lowcountry Food Bank, The Green Heart Project and Pet Helpers — will also be in attendance to share more about their organizations and the important work they do throughout the Lowcountry.
As part of the relaunch celebration, each nonprofit partner will receive a $1,000 grant from the Charitable Society of Charleston, and CSC members will participate in volunteer service projects with each organization throughout the remainder of 2026.
The event is open to the public, and those interested in becoming involved with the organization are encouraged to attend.
