Century Aluminum Company will award four scholarships to local student-athletes this Thursday, Oct. 30, during the annual rivalry football game between Goose Creek High School and Stratford High School, reinforcing the company’s ongoing support of Lowcountry communities.
The scholarships recognize student-athletes who demonstrate Century’s core value of excellence both on and off the field. To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors, participate in a varsity sport, and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.
“The scholarship is one of several programs that we’ll be undertaking as part of our newly launched CenturyCares program,” said Robert Quak, Mt. Holly plant manager. “CenturyCares supports education, families, and the environment, and reinforces our care for the community in a tangible way.”
The scholarships will be co-presented with Goose Creek Mayor Greg Habib.
“Century Aluminum continues to be a valued partner in Goose Creek. These scholarships reflect the company’s dedication to excellence and community investment,” said Habib. “I’m proud to see them continuing to support the future leaders of our city.”
Recipients will be announced Thursday night during the Golden Goose Rivalry football game. Century Aluminum said it looks forward to supporting the next generation of South Carolina leaders and continuing its strong partnership with the local community.
