GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — Century Aluminum Company is proud to announce the awarding of four scholarships to local students during the Golden Goose Rival football game on Oct. 30.
From Goose Creek High School, scholarships were awarded to Alexander Johnson, a senior varsity basketball player and aspiring anesthesiologist who has completed more than 50 hours of community service and is active in several leadership and academic organizations, and Ava Harrison, a varsity cheerleader and dedicated student involved in multiple honor societies who plans to pursue pediatric nursing at Charleston Southern University.
From Stratford High School, recipients included James Cooper, a four-year varsity cross-country and track athlete who served as team captain and achieved personal bests in both sports, and Lyric Cureton, a top-ranked senior standout in tennis and softball who is also active in the arts and academic leadership.
The scholarships were presented by Glennita Greene, human resources manager; Kendra Middleton, senior human resources generalist; and AJ Nelson, Mt. Holly restart coordinator, all from Century Aluminum Mt. Holly.
“Century Aluminum is grateful for the Goose Creek and Stratford High School communities for their continued partnership and enthusiasm,” said Greene. “We look forward to building even stronger connections in the years ahead through our CenturyCares program.”
