Breeze Airways, the premium leisure low-cost carrier, is honored to be recognized as having the best airline seat comfort in North America as determined by the 2024 APEX Awards.
APEX again partnered with Tripit from Concur, the travel-organizing app, to gather their anonymous passenger feedback and insights. For the 2024 awards, nearly one million flights were rated by passengers using a five-star scale, across more than 600 airlines around the world.
Just three years old, Breeze has flown more than five million Guests and now serves 56 cities across 29 states. The airline has a firm order of 90 Airbus A220-300s on order, of which 25 have been delivered, with options for a further 30 aircraft. Breeze recently announced that all of the carrier’s scheduled commercial service will be operated with a A220 single fleet type starting this autumn.
The A220s offer an elevated onboard experience with a quieter cabin for superior Guest comfort, including the largest cabin in its class, with the highest ceilings, widest aisles, biggest windows and largest overhead stowage.
Breeze’s A220 fleet features high-speed WiFi from Viasat and a comfortable two-class 137 seat cabin layout, comprising Ascent, extra legroom and economy seating.
Breeze Ascent includes 12 recliner-style Safran Z600 seats, with 20.5 inches of width and 39 inches of seat pitch, in a 2 by 2 configuration, which feature footrests for added comfort and in-seat AC power and USB/C ports.
The airline also offers 125 Safran US Z110i seats in a 2 by 3 configuration which are 18.8 inches wide – 45 with ‘extra legroom’, featuring 33 inches of seat pitch, and 80 with standard legroom, with 30-31 inches of seat pitch.
The Breeze seats with seating material from Tapis and Ultrafabrics play a critical role in delivering superior passenger comfort unlike anything else in the industry. The new seat covers are engineered through propriety process called Takumi™ Technology, which involves applying the principles of craftsmanship to maximize the performance of each of the four layers of the seat covering. The fabric interacts with the human sensory system by providing softer surroundings infused with textures and grains to promote calmness and mindfulness.
“We set out on this journey three years ago with one goal in mind, to make air travel more comfortable and Seriously Nice for everyone,” said Breeze Airway’s Founder and CEO David Neeleman. “And both our high repeat Guests ratio and industry-leading NPS scores bear our success, along with special recognition such as this award from APEX. On behalf of all our amazing Team Members and our seat partner Safran, I’m extremely proud to accept this award and I’d like to thank our Guests who have flown us and given such great praise to APEX following their experience.”
“Our logo features a checkmark known as the ‘ascent’ and is a depiction of a plane ascending into the sky, so it made sense for us to name our most elevated onboard experience ‘Breeze Ascent’. We are creating a new standard for what it means to ‘fly up front’ with comfortable, premium seating and complimentary snacks and beverages at an affordable price.”
