Berkeley County Library System (BCLS), will host Read with Sophie on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the following locations:
- Hanahan Library, 1216 Old Murray Court, Hanahan (9 – 10:30 a.m.).
- Goose Creek Library, 325 Old Moncks Corner Road, Goose Creek (12 – 1 p.m.).
Read with Sophie will give families the opportunity to interact with a trained therapy dog by reading stories to Sophie and meeting her handler. Children who may be uncomfortable with reading aloud discover a new confidence while reading to Sophie.
"Practice reading skills with therapy dog, Sophie," said Nanette Hamilton, Senior Branch Librarian. "Reading with therapy dogs is a great, low-stress way to practice and improve literacy and self-confidence."
