The City of Alpharetta and the Rotary Club of Alpharetta will host Alpharetta’s Memorial Day Tribute on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 9 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. at Alpharetta City Hall, located at 2 Park Plaza. The event is free for the public to attend.
The program begins at 9 a.m. and will include an invocation, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a keynote address by Dr. Rich McCormick, followed by “Taps.”
"Memorial Day is one of America's most patriotic observances. A day to pause and remember those fallen heroes that have defended our freedom and our Republic," said Alpharetta Rotary Memorial Day Chair, William Perkins.
About the Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Rich McCormick is a decorated veteran and Emergency Room physician who proudly serves Georgia's 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
Raised by a single mother, McCormick worked as a paperboy in middle school and worked his way through college, earning his degree from Oregon State University. A firm believer in service before self, McCormick joined the Marine Corps and became a helicopter pilot.
During his two decades of service, McCormick deployed to combat zones in Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan. As a Marine, he flew helicopters and was Airborne and attached to Army and foreign forces. Dr. McCormick taught at Georgia Institute of Technology and Morehouse College as a Marine Officer Instructor. While in the Navy, he earned the rank of Commander and served as Department Head for the Emergency Medicine Department in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Between deployments, McCormick earned his Master of Business Administration from National University, and his Medical Degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he was honored to serve as President of the student body. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine through Emory University while training at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Most recently, Dr. McCormick served as an Emergency Room physician at Northside Hospital.
In Congress, Dr. Rich McCormick serves ont the House Armed Services, Science, Space, and Technology Committees.
He lives in Suwanee, Georgia and is a member of Cross Pointe Church.
