Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at one of the leading animal shelters in the state and the country? Now's your chance to see it all.
For the first time ever, Charleston Animal Society is opening its doors for an epic eight-hour livestream that promises an unforgettable, all-access look at the lifesaving work happening every single day.
On Friday, July 10, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., viewers can tune in on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube (see below) for a nonstop journey through every corner of Charleston Animal Society. Expect adorable puppies and kittens, remarkable rescue stories, inspiring transformations, exclusive access, surprise guests, and countless moments that will make you laugh, smile, and maybe even shed a tear.
This isn't just a tour. It's the ultimate backstage pass.
The livestream will take viewers where few people ever get to go—from the bustling Spay-Neuter Surgery Clinic, where lifesaving procedures prevent thousands of homeless animals every year, to the Humane Education Department, where future generations are learning compassion. Cameras will roam through the beautiful Bear Greer Memorial Cat Sanctuary and travel to Charleston Animal Society's growing Berkeley Campus, showcasing the expanding reach of lifesaving across the Lowcountry.
Along the way, viewers will meet the veterinarians, animal care specialists, foster coordinators, behavior experts, volunteers, and dedicated team members whose passion changes lives every day.
Most importantly, they'll meet the animals. Dozens of them.
"This is our opportunity to show our community exactly what happens because they choose to support Charleston Animal Society," said President and CEO Joe Elmore, CAWA, CFRE. "Every rescued puppy, every kitten, every surgery, every adoption, every second chance is made possible because someone cared enough to help."
The livestream also comes with an important mission.
Charleston Animal Society is asking the community to help sell 500 entries into the Hank & Laurel Greer Lifesaving Raffle, one of the organization's biggest annual fundraisers. Every dollar from every raffle ticket goes directly toward caring for homeless and vulnerable animals—providing medical care, shelter, food, enrichment, rehabilitation, and lifesaving programs that serve thousands of animals each year.
Your odds of winning the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum Edition Hybrid Max All Wheel Drive ($65,000 value) or one of the five cash prizes are 1 in 667! By comparison, your chances of winning the Powerball are 1 in 292,201,338!
To make the day even more fun, everyone who purchases a raffle ticket during the livestream will receive a live on-air shoutout as a thank-you for helping save lives.
Whether you watch for five minutes or stay for all eight hours, you'll experience the incredible work your generosity makes possible—and you'll probably fall in love with a few furry faces along the way.
The livestream begins Friday, July 10, at 9 a.m. on Charleston Animal Society's Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels.
