The Charleston Health & Well-being Consortium, an alliance of 3 schools (College of Charleston, The Citadel, and Medical University of South Carolina), will host the fourth annual Charleston Student Health & Well-being Conference on May 19, 2026, at the College of Charleston.
Conference attendees will hear from experts highlighting how to help students thrive and learn how to more effectively promote student wellness.

The conference will cover a range of topics that contribute to student success and expand on the resources available to institutions serving colleg
The theme for this year’s conference is Roots of Resilience – Growing Student Well-being Together.
Susan Johnson will deliver the keynote address. Johnson is President & CEO of the South Carolina Healthy Business Coalition, a statewide membership organization advancing workforce well-being through evidence-based strategies, education and cross-sector collaboration. She is also the Founder of Nature at Work, an initiative integrating nature-based approaches into workplace health, environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Additional conference speakers include specialists focused on mental health and counseling; basic needs solutions; horticulture therapy; how to help military veterans in crisis and more.
The conference’s closing panel will feature the discussion, “What’s the men’s equivalent for Yoga? A Conversation about College Men’s Mental Health”, facilitated by Bucky Buchanan, Director of Campus Recreation Services, College of Charleston, and will feature 3 panelists from the consortium institutions.
The mission of the Charleston Student Health and Well-being Consortium focuses on what institutions are doing on local, state and national levels to promote student well-being. Working together, consortium members explore and create opportunities to promote education for students, faculty and staff.
By sharing their work with senior leadership and the South Carolina legislature, the Consortium promotes the importance of integrating student health and well-being into academics, outcomes and program needs.
